3M™ Wrap Film Series 1080

  • 3M™ Wrap Film Series 1080 is transitioning to 3M™ Wrap Film Series 2080
  • All of the same features as 3M Series 1080, plus: Protective film  layer on gloss colors  - stays on during installation and then is  removed quickly, easily and cleanly after install to reduce surface  impressions and scratches.
  • Improved conformability - provides a better fit around curves and in channels for a sleek appearance and easier installation.
  • Improved warranty allowing up to 7 years of protection on vertical applications and 2 years on horizontal.
  • 3.5 Mil Cast Wrap Film with Long-term, Gray, Removable,  Repositionable, Pressure Activated Adhesive with Non-visible Air Release  Channels
  • New protective film layer on Gloss colors stays on during installation and removes quickly, easily and cleanly after install
  • New unique, conformable film layers provide a better fit around curves and in channels for sleek appearance and easier install
  • Colors:  8 year expected outdoor performance, 7 year vertical and 2 year horizontal warranty period
  • Neon colors have no warranty for fading.  Expected outdoor life in  direct sunlight is less than three months.  Fluorescent Neon colors fade  much faster than normal colors.  Note:  Reduction in fading can be  helped with overlamination, prevention of stretched areas which fade  even faster, and removal from high U.V. times during the day.
  • Gloss colors can sometimes have a haze/blotchiness/mottling that  can usually be eliminated with heat. Even the shipping box can create  surface impressions that can also be eliminated with heat.
  • Beware:  Matte finishes can become permanently glossed when too much heat is applied during installation.
  • Matte finishes must be cleaned often to maintain a beautiful  finish.  Stubborn stains may be removed with vigorous use of liquid  adhesive remover combined with Magic Eraser pads.
  • Patterns/textures/metallics: 5 year expected outdoor performance, 3 year vertical and 1 year horizontal warranty period
  • Expected outdoor performance on chrome is 1 year applied to a flat vertical, vehicle surface
  • The opacity of these films vary and should be considered when installing
  • Invisible air release channels assure fast and easy virtually bubble-free applications
  • No overlaminate required, however, overlaminates have been shown to  improve the cleanability of matte colors and, increase the fade  resistance of neon colors
  • Watercraft graphics applied above static water line only
  • Note: Textured, dead matte, metallic, pearl and color flip films  may have a directional characteristic in their appearance. For the best  overall appearance, do not alternate between lengthwise and widthwise  graphic panels for any color
  • Caution:  Always pre-test vinyl installation on vehicles.  Do not  install if there is any adverse or negative impact on sensors and/or  other safety-related equipment on the intended vehicle.
  • Warning:  During installation it is critical to prevent “dragging”  the adhesive side of wrap vinyls over edges and flat surfaces.  Abrasion  caused by dragging can result in “adhesive dots” or “sanding” under the  surface of the vinyl and make it appear to have many small bumps.  This  is usually not repairable.  For more information and installation  advice, please view the video below titled “Avoid Dots/Adhesive lines”.
